Overview

The Taycan was Porsche’s first electric car and, more importantly, the first electric car that still felt like a Porsche. 800 volts, a two-speed rear gearbox, and a body that sits like a 911 that grew up in a bank. The 4S is the one to live with: enough, not a drag-strip special.

Powertrain

Dual-motor 800V permanent magnet

Weight is the tax. The chassis spends it honestly. Instant torque is not the story — the story is how quietly it changes direction for something that weighs as much as an old S-Class.

Design

Michael Mauer’s four-door is a single extrusion of glass and haunch. No grille in the old sense, a light bar that actually belongs, and a cabin that treated screens as instruments rather than a tablet glued to the dash.

Still the electric benchmark for people who care about cars rather than apps. The 4S is the adult in the room.
