Overview
The Model S Plaid is the moment electric cars stopped asking for permission. Three motors, a carbon centre seat, and acceleration that is less a statistic than a physiological event. It is also, still, a family liftback with a boot in the nose.

Tri-motor Plaid
Straight-line is solved. The rest is software. On a road that bends, the weight and the tyres write the terms. On a motorway it is a quiet, slightly smug lounge.

Design
The original silhouette has been sanded, not reinvented. The yoke is the controversy; the body is the consensus. It looks like what a 2012 sedan would become if the future arrived on schedule.
The car that forced Porsche to build a Taycan. History will file it under ‘necessary shock’.
