Overview
The 992 GT3 is the current answer to a sixty-year question: how much racing car a road can hold. A 9,000-rpm flat-six with no turbocharger, double-wishbone front suspension borrowed from the RSR, and a swan-neck wing that is not a fashion choice. This is the vehicle of the week because it is the vehicle of the decade.

4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six
The engine is the event. Everything else — the steering, the carbon brakes, the way it rotates around the rear axle — exists to keep that event on the island. Manual or PDK is a religious question; both are correct.

Design
Wider than it looks in photographs, lower than is decent. The rear wing is a piece of motorsport furniture, the front lid is a vent, and the cabin is still a 911: five dials, a thin wheel, and no theatre. It is the rare modern car that looks more expensive the longer you stare.
The GT3 name arrived in 1999 on the 996. Each generation has been a homologation argument. The 992 is the first with a double-wishbone front end, which is the quiet revolution under the famous silhouette.
If this register could keep only one page, it would be this one. The GT3 is the canonical sports car of the 2020s: analog where it counts, modern where it must.
