Overview

After sixty-seven years the engine moved behind the seats, and the Corvette finally became the mid-engine car it had been threatening to be since the 1960s. The Stingray is the base car, which is a sentence that would be illegal in Italy.

Powertrain

LT2 6.2-litre V8

The LT2 is an old American sermon. The dual-clutch is the new church. On a back road it does the 911’s job with less ceremony and more cubic inches.

Design

A fighter-jet canopy, a targa roof that stows in the trunk, and a rear that looks like a supercar invoice. It is still a Corvette: slightly too much, in the correct direction.

The greatest performance bargain in this register. Europe still has not processed it.
